There are a number of activities that can be enjoyed around around Amani Nature Reserve. Emau Hill is an excellent base from which to enjoy Hiking, birdwatching, visits to tea plantations and the local village craft and butterfly projects. The latter harvests beauiful forest butterflies in a sustainable way and prepares them for export. It also produces a variety of fantastic jewellery pieces incorporating butterfly wings. Other specialist guided walks in the area include chameleon night walks and frog hunts.
Cycling is also possible from Emau Hill. We will soon be providing bicycles for you to hire but currently you have to bring our own mountain bike. The routes vary in difficulty but as we are near the top of the mountain and rides with distance involve steep hills.
We arrange several cultural tours in the surrounding areas. These include visiting Shebo Meza Village and local markets. Locally produced spices make a superb present for those back home.
We can also arrange bush skills weekends for children of all ages. All of our activities are designed to be flexible so you do not need to be super fit to enjoy your stay at Amani.
