The Violet Walk

This easy hike which takes just an hour to loop around camp shows you the forest and the endemic African Violets (St Paulia Sp. This walk is suitable for those with young children.

The Tailorbird Walk

This is a short hike close to Emau Hill visiting the territories of the endemi and elusive Amani Tailorbird. An expert bird guide can be arranged on request.

The Tea Walk

This is a full day hike from camp. Here you pass through various patches of forest before entering tea plantations and village areas. This hike is around 14km and has some steep sections.

The Mbomole Hill Walk

Mbomole Hill is the highest peak in Amani Nature Reserve. This hike take one our up and about half that coming down. The hike starts from behind the Reserve HQ. We suggest you take a guide with you. A nice time to experience this is to hit the summit around sunset time and watch the final hunts of the resident falcons and the hornbills coming in to roost.

The Siggi Mountain Trail

This trail starts behind the old Station Master’s house that is now the visitors center and climbs steeply through the forest to the top of Siggi Mountain where some enterprising locals dug for hidden German Gold…. This is a tough trail and a packed lunch should be taken so you can take your time and enjoy the forest.

The Waterfalls Trail

This trail starts from the Nature Reserve Head Quaters and descends through the forest visting a couple of waterfalls on the way. We suggest this as a morning or afternoon activitiy. A guide should be taken and your driver should meet you at the bottom to avoid a long slog back up the hill.
